Thoughts on FW/1, DroidX

Wow, it's been a little while since I last posted something. Where does the time go? Anyway, a few weeks ago I started porting a personal project of mine from by beloved Fusebox into Sean Corfield's FW/1, or Framework One for those of you that like to annunciate things. I *really* liked Fusebox, but alas it hasn't received much love in a couple years now and it seems like there's neverending drama between the community and the framework's owner, TeraTech. So, life moves on. I'm also using this opportunity to dip my toes into ColdFusion 9's new ORM features. As I get more ported, I will plan on posting a guide on moving to FW/1 from Fusebox.

I've had my DroidX for a little over a week now, and I couldn't be happier with it. Yes, if did involve selling my soul to Verizon for another two years, but it's way better than the Blackberry 8330 I was carring around. First of all, the UI is awesome. I can't say I've ever really used an iPhone, but almost every aspect of this device is beautiful. I've head some people mention the Motorola interface stuff isn't that good, but I honestly kinda like it -- especially the social media app. It puts Facebook, Twitter, and other accounts in a centralized place. Even the call quality is better than my Backberry. My only complaint is that I miss the push e-mail Backberry had. The Gmail app is okay, but it seems like I always have to tell it to check for messages all the time.
